“If he can do it, so can I” can be dangerous if its said for the sake of comparison, but it can also be something that is incredibly motivating and inspirational. The past few days at the gym it has been the latter for me. There has been a guy in there working with one of the trainers. This fellow has to use a walker to get from place to place…and not in the sense that he needs the walker to just assist him, he clearly needs it to be able to get around at all. That joker is always working his tail off though. He will get down on the floor and do exercises, which can’t be easy when mobility is such an issue. Seeing him work also just makes the entire experience better. I don’t know how one can see this guy doing what he’s doing and not smile. And it just serves as reminder when I don’t want to do the “bonus set” my trainer has decided to throw in or getting in my cardio, that if this guy can do all of these things, I can get my butt on the bike. Peace, love and crabs. Hope you have a great day!
I love this post so much and you’re exactly right, it’s very inspirational to see people with disabilities and less fortunate than us do things that we never expect them to do! What motivation!
