Side effects are often seen as bad things…probably to medicine commercials always mentioning diarrhea. Thanks big pharma. But I am going to talk about some of the side effects I have noticed from losing weight and exercising. These are all fantastic things that may not have been part of my goals or something you are looking to get out of exercising, but they are very welcome rewards.
Everyone tells you that “you will feel so much better” if you start working out. It is so true though. There is such a dramatic uptick in energy. Some of this could be from sleeping through the night now (iykyk), but I think there is definitely an increase due to exercising. I would definitely classify myself as lazy before working out. This was largely due to a lack of energy which creates a lack of motivation. Some in my life may argue I have too much energy now. When my feet hit the floor in the morning, I am ready to go. It also results in me being tidier (still not organized, I think that’s my brains fault though) but I definitely have the energy to try and keep things in a bit more orderly fashion.
Motivation to say yes is another side effect. The fear that I am just going to get immediately worn out is no longer there which definitely prevented me from saying yes to doing certain things. Missing out on experiences because you just can’t hold up is no fun at all.
Having a healthy outlet for stress or anxiety is super beneficial. Whether that is going to the gym and lifting heavy weights or being able to go for a walk. I have fallen in love with going on walks which is so beneficial for my mental health.
Maybe the biggest side effect is that mental health aspect. Like I said above, having that outlet to let out some of that energy is so freeing. Working out builds confidence, again some may say it built too much for me. It really just shifts your entire mentality about life. Life is a ton of fun when you have the energy to do whatever you want!! Keep crushing it, I love you all!
Below is a picture of how untidy things had become before. Ignore the jorts.
