Potatoes

Happy New Year homies! As the clock struck midnight Monday, many people made resolutions to get healthier in 2024. That’s fantastic! Whatever you decide, I wish you well. Try your best to stick to whatever goals you set, but remember to be nice to yourself as well. That will go far in helping you accomplish whatever it is that you’ve set out to do. What follows is going to be a stream of consciousness of things that have helped me, my journey the past year and probably other random things.

Progress is not linear. Your weight is going to fluctuate. You’re going to have days where all you want to do is eat. Events and just life in general is going to happen. Enjoy life, enjoy people and just try to stay as consistent as you can. If you let yourself go out with friends when they want, you’re going to be so much more successful in the long run than if you keep your diet and exercise as strict as possible. As I said above, be nice to yourself, love yourself and results will follow. If you step on the scale and its higher than the day before, it will be ok. I promise!!

Take progress pictures. When the scale isn’t moving much, pictures can really show you what you’ve been doing. Also, just pay attention to other things that are improving. Maybe you aren’t winded going up steps, maybe chasing your kid is fun now and not strenuous. Maybe you’re just getting absolutely swole so the scale creeps up a little. Just keep working, you’ll get where you need to go. I’ve had to realize this a bit recently. I actually gained about 3 pounds over the last year, but I absolutely feel better than I ever have. I’ve had a lot of transition in my life the past year, which has made some things difficult, but I have tried my best to enjoy it and do what I can in the kitchen and the gym. And even though the scale isn’t as good as last January 5, I feel better, I feel healthier, and I feel that my body composition is better than a year ago.

Potatoes. Man, potatoes have been a game changer for me. Using them as my carb for dinner makes it so much easier not to snack after. They are just so much more filling to me than other carbs. Throw those suckers in the air fryer with some avocado oil and the seasoning of your choice, ballgame. So tasty, so filling.

That’s it I think. Anyone that’s reading this, please don’t hesitate to reach out for and tips, motivation, or rattle off ideas. I’d love to know what you’re cooking up in the kitchen or the gym. Put your shoes on. Love yourself as much as I love you and you’ll be successful, that’s the Chaz guarantee.
