Diet starts Monday and New Year New Me are phrases that are thrown around a lot when people have a desire to better themselves. First thought, if that’s what it takes to get you to make improvements, then that’s great! I recently used Diet starts Monday as a reset. I have been struggling getting my diet on track since moving, so last weekend, I decided to enjoy it guilt free, then really buckled down on Monday. I have had success in the pass dieting, and can be self-disciplined when I go all in. I haven’t been all in since moving, which made it far to easy to build cheat meals on top of cheat meals. I was able to recognize this before it got too far gone, and make the change. Long story short, diet starts Monday worked for me. For some, making drastic changes to your way of life can be terribly difficult to stick to. In this case, diet starts Monday or new year new me may not be your best course of action. Monday’s suck, don’t make them worse. Start making changes right now. I write this sitting in a coffee shop, which is a great place to make a small change. If you have an affinity for the fancy drinks, simply substitute skim milk or a milk substitute. Its small change that can make the difference in hundreds of calories over weeks and months. Another start is to add up all of your calories over a week. You don’t have to instantly make a change to your diet, but doing this can help you identify places where you are overeating or adding in a few too many snacks (guilty!). Add in 1000 steps today. That’s about 10 minutes of walking. Add 1000 more next week. Simply walking is so beneficial for both your physical and your mental health. Park in the last parking spot rather than the first. Making this a habit adds so many steps to your day. Those are just a few ideas. Make a small change today. Next holiday season you’ll be getting a whole new wardrobe. Love you, mean it!
