Life Changes

Life changes can be both expected an unexpected (duh). For someone who thrives on routine, this can make it very tough to stay on track. I have had both minor and major changes recently/on the horizon. The one thing that I have tried to keep in mind through this is to control what I can control. No matter how hard I try, I can’t solve my problems lying in bed at midnight.

This goes for both my fitness journey and life in general. As far as life, I will provide an update in due time. A minor change prevented me from going to the gym for a week and a half. A major change has me trying to figure out how to stay on track. For both of these, it is so important for me to remember that I cannot control everything. Trying to do so will do far more harm than good. In order to maintain, the easiest thing for me to control is the food I consume. Sometimes this may take more planning but it can be done. The cliché that you can’t outwork a bad diet is so helpful here because it’s a reminder how key diet is. I am going to burn calories by living so I just have to cut my intake a tiny bit (it doesn’t have to be drastic folks, use a TDEE Calculator). The other thing is to just be as active as possible in everyday life. Park at the end of the parking lot. Walk to the coffee shop at lunch. Do some pushups before going up the stairs. These are all things that can give us some control over our health when life tries to get in the way.
