There are endless factors in play when working on our health. When you start off at place that seems far from your goals, that journey can be very daunting. There are lots of sayings and cliches like eating an elephant one bite at a time (That would be good for you calorically I do not think) and those can be very helpful. It is definitely a process that is filled with wins and losses, trials and tribulations, highs and lows, old women hitting on you at the gym. Maybe a slightly different piece of advice is to start off by finding something that you are good at or enjoy (or just don’t hate) that you can implement from the beginning. Starting in an area of strength or enjoyment makes it so much easier to build other better habits. That could be running (if you’re lunatic), hiking, maybe you really enjoy lifting weights, apparently some people love vegetables so making them a priority in your diet. Whatever it is, find something that you can really lean into. For me, I can eat the same exact thing everyday. Sounds like most people aren’t like that, but I have been able to find things that I really like to eat that are high in protein and lowish in calories. Not only has that helped me build other habits by having that in my arsenal, but when sickness or injures happen, and I can’t get in the gym or get in my steps, I have that to rely on. That has been so crucial in keeping things on a good path when things get in the way. I will list a few of the things I rely on below that you may enjoy.
I eat a lot of salads so BoatHouse Farms Classic Ranch is a staple.
92% lean ground beef
Yasso Bars – these may be the most clutch. They are amazing and have between 100-160 calories.
Along the same lines is Halo Top Ice Cream…strawberry is the best
Canned Chicken. You can ask my coworkers, I eat this multiple times a day.
I make chicken salad with it just the canned chicken, some no sugar added sweet
sweet pickle juice, Herman’s lite mayo, and a little bit of everything bagel seasoning
Pretzel Crisps. These are my snack of choice.
Kirklands Steak Strips
Jalapeno Chomps Sticks
Flatbread pizzas on Lavish Rolls from The Fresh Market.
Lavish roll, pizza sauce of choice, lean ground beef cooked with garlic and oregano, turkey pepperoni, and reduced fat mozzarella. Or Chicken cooked in pesto, pesto sauce on the roll, reduced fat mozzarella, and a sprinkle of feta. Both are great and not bad calorically
That’s about my entire diet. Enjoy. Love you all.
